Gemma Stark is a multi-disciplinary art director and designer based in London. After gaining a first in Graphic Design at the world-renowned Central Saint Martins, Gemma completed internships at several leading British fashion publications before joining fashion leader NET-A-PORTER as a junior designer in 2008. She worked her way up in multiple roles across the business, before becoming Art Director of NET-A-PORTER’s ground-breaking digital magazine, The Edit (now Porter Digital) in 2016.
It was in this role that Gemma found her niche; passionate about fashion and beauty trends, she thrived in the fast-paced world of digital content, creating beautiful weekly cover shoots with A-list cover stars and supermodels – including Nicole Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, Cara Delevingne and Kate Moss – while also delivering world-class videos, fashion and beauty features and social media content on a daily basis. She has developed a global roster of contacts throughout her career and is passionate about bringing together inspiring creative teams to execute briefs to the highest standards.
After 11 years at NET-A-PORTER – which saw her win the coveted title of Digital Art Director of the Year at the industry-defining BSME Awards in 2018 – Gemma is now working in a freelance capacity. Working with various brands and companies such as Victoria Beckham, Bread Beauty Supply, J.Crew, Jimmy Choo and Condé Nast, services include art direction on photoshoots, branding, content and strategy ideas, marketing and social media content, web design and packaging design.
